He will cover how to take a good photograph and make it a great photograph. Here’s an introduction to some of the tweaking techniques used by photo labs behind the scenes. These are not "fake" a photograph techniques, but rather how to get the best out of your images using such things as brightness/contrast, levels and sharpening.

Join the Fun for Downtown Auburn BID’s 24th Annual Holiday Parade and Family Fun Day November 27 running from 3 – 8PM.

At 3PM the Exchange St. Mall and Genesee Mall become centerstage for FREE family fun before the Holiday Parade starts at 6PM. Activities include free horse-drawn wagon rides; and the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting their Child Photo ID Program. Lively music will be provided by DJ Jane Stebbins, with live holiday music by St. Mary’s Choir at 4PM.

There will be children’s games organized by IGNITE, and ornament making and coloring will be available. The Auburn Fire Department will host their Community Bonfire on South St. across from City Hall, and the Auburn Civic Band will play pre and post-parade music on Exchange Street.

Alasdair Fraser, long regarded as Scotland’s premier fiddle ambassador with a career spanning 30 years, and the sizzlingly talented California cellist Natalie Haas have a performance partnership of ten years duration. Join Naturalist Jim D’Angelo for a walk along the trails of the Sterling Nature Center for a look at some of Mother Nature’s beautiful woodland wildflowers. Identification, natural history and interesting fact about the spring woodland wildflowers will be discussed on this walk. An indoor slide show will take place if outdoor conditions are not favorable for a walk. Free at 1pm. Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.

Tap dancer Dustin “Toes” MacGrath, and pianist Tristan “Fingers” St. Claire have managed to talk a major Broadway producer into coming to see their show in two weeks: a boy meets girl tap dance spectacular on the theme of love. But there’s a problem: first, they haven’t written it yet, secondly they don’t have a girl, and sadly, they have no idea whatsoever about love. As the deadline approaches, everything becomes swept up in a series of dazzling numbers and comical scenes as their theme “Love” begins to derail the show. Wednesdays 3:45pm - 5:00pm. Art After School students will explore the connection between poetry and visual art. Students will learn the basics of poetry and will write their own works with published poet Georgia Popoff. Written projects will include the creation of a 26 word poem using each letter of the alphabet, while visual art projects will focus on crafting used books into works of art/poetry. Participants are invited to share their poems at the Children’s Poetry Reading on Sunday, October 23, 2pm, free.

If you were to argue that Mel Brooks’s Young Frankenstein ranks among the top-ten funniest movies of all time, nobody could reasonably dispute the claim. Spoofing classic horror in the way that Brooks’s previous film Blazing Saddles sent up classic Westerns, the movie is both a loving tribute and a raucous, irreverent parody of Universal’s classic horror films Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935. 10/28 1 & 8pm, 10/29 8pm.

Westminster Presbyterian Church, a downtown Auburn church founded by abolitionists in 1861, will host a lecture at 7:30pm about the role of churches in the abolitionist movement in the mid-1800s. The lecture, entitled ’Upon This Mighty Rock: Antislavery, Religion, and the Civil War,’ will be presented by Professor Richard Newman. Richard Newman is Professor of History at RIT and the author most recently of Freedom’s Prophet: Bishop Richard Allen, the AME Church, and the Black Founding Fathers (NYU Press), which was named to Booklists Top Ten Books of African American History in 2009.
