Annually, over 7,000 volunteers clean and documented about a quarter million pounds of debris across NYS. An evening of traditional blues music performed by John Rossbach and Chestnut Grove, the last in the summer series Festival at the Frontenac, is set for September 13. The Auburn Players Second Stage Short Play Festival will presenting its final performances this Friday and Saturday, October 3, 4, at 8pm and on Sunday, October 5, at 2pm at the Auburn Public Theatre, 108 Genesee Street, Auburn. This festival has produced five plays that were selected in July from 20 submissions made by local and out-of-state playwrights. This show has adult themes and is not recommended for children. Saturday, October 11th. Join us in creating apple cider the old fashion way with a people powered fruit press. Help, wash, grind, press, pasteurize and best of all taste fresh apple cider. While going through the process we will discuss the history of apples, apple product, the apple growing industry and the many different varieties of apples. Back by popular demand - take a taste test of over a dozen different varieties of apples grown by local orchards and place your vote for your favorite. New this year an - Apple Cook Off - bring in your favorite apple dish to be tasted and judged. On Sunday, October 12 at 2:00 PM, Civil War re-enactor Linda Zach, will give a presentation on the various and surprising roles women played during the Civil War. The event will be held at the Frontenac Museum, 178 Cayuga St., Union Springs and is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served.
