Journalist Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in Cayuga County. The goal of the Cayuga County Convention & Visitors Bureau is to assist travel writers in developing itineraries and to facilitate visits to attractions, cultural venues and other points of interest that will cover their articles, books and broadcasts.

We receive a considerable number of requests from journalists seeking media privileges. As a result and to most effectively meet your editorial, photographic and/or broadcast needs, we ask your cooperation in the following guidelines when requesting a press visit.

    • Please complete the media trip request form below
    • We request a minimum of three business weeks notice for a press visit once we have received all your credentialing information. This allows us to pursue suitable, available lodging and make other arrangements to enhance your visit.
    • Fax, mail or email a letter of assignment on letterhead from the media outlet you are representing. These credentials help us qualify that Cayuga County is the perfect travel destination for your publication. If demographics, circulation and other factors match our criteria we will be glad to help you secure a discounted or complementary rate at an area hotel. Email Meg Vanek at meg@tourcayuga.com or Fax 315.255.3742, Mail: Cayuga County CVB, 131 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY  13021.  Freelance journalists should forward recent examples of travel or travel related feature coverage to contact above.
    • Immediately notify Cayuga County CVB should your plans change so we can notify any partners that have agreed to host you.ll your credentialing information. This allows us to pursue suitable, available lodging and make other arrangements to enhance your visit.
    • To remain on our preferred media list, please forward an original copy of your published feature, print, tape, DVD, or VHS as well as air dates, as soon as possible after the feature runs.

Please note that discounted or complimentary arrangements are provided at the discretion of the host business and are subject to availability. Black out periods may be experienced throughout the year that may affect the possibility of a hotel press rate, such as weekends during peak summer season or fall foliage season.

Please understand that our primary concern is assisting working press. Host locations are not always able to accommodate spouses, children and visitors accompanying working press.

Again, thank you for your interest in Cayuga County. We look forward to assisting you with your research.
