Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail Wins State Award

2015 Tourism Excellence Award

Sweet Treat Trail award recipientsNovember 2, 2015 - Cayuga County, NY – The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail was recognized with a Tourism Excellence Award from the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) at their Annual Meeting in Cooperstown on October 22, 2015.  The Tourism Excellence Awards recognize leaders in New York State’s tourism industry who have achieved a high level of excellence and accomplishment.  The winning programs are selected on the basis of demonstrated commitment, leadership, and accomplishment in travel and tourism.

Herb Clark, Chair of the Board for NYSTIA acknowledged the winning programs stating, “Tourism is a major economic development tool across New York State, excellence in marketing and visitor service are rightfully honored for the attention that they draw to our state as a great place to visit – work – and live.”

The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail received the ‘Cultural Heritage’ award which recognizes programs and projects aimed at exposing visitors to the State’s unique cultural aspects, increasing visitation to a community or region and stimulating the local economy.  The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail, a program of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, promotes locally grown and produced sweet items including syrups, honey, jams, jellies, fruit wines, ice cream and baked goods.  The Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail concept was developed by Meg Vanek, executive director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism and the brand for the trail was created by Finger Lakes graphic designer Cindy Harris of Harris Studios.  For more information visit www.tourcayuga.com/farm-to-table/
