David Connelly, instructor of philosophy at CCC and chair of the Cayuga Centers Board of Trustees has done extensive research on Thomas Mott Osbornein the course of writing a book.  Osborne, born in 1859 grew up influenced by his mother, Eliza Wright Osborne, grandmother Martha Coffin Wright and great aunt Lucretia Coffin Mott, all suffrage and human rights activists.  Thomas Mott Osborne is most noted as an advocate for prison reform and for going undercover to investigate actual conditions at Sing Sing and Auburn prisons and for publishing Within Prison Walls.
