Q&A after the show.Osborne was a major industrialist, pioneer educator, powerful politician, andprison reformer. He applied to each of those fields the radical democratic principles of the women who raised him, particularly Lucretia Mott, Martha Wright, Susan B. Anthony, and Harriet Tubman. He made himself the most powerful political force in his time against Tammany Hall. He thwarted the scheme of the narcissist mogul publisher William Randolph Hearst to be President. He ushered into politics and mentored the man who would become the Twentieth Century’s most important president, Franklin Roosevelt.
