Thornton Wilder said “When you are safe at home you wish you were having an adventure. When you are having an adventure, you wish you were safe at home.” This is surely true for 2020. No matter where you are from, when you spend a few relaxing days in the Finger Lakes you feel like you are safe at home with a little adventure. Your safety is our first concern. We will reopen in Phase 3 of the New York State guidelines with our COVID plan in place. This plan is available to you upon request. The plan includes providing individual hand sanitizers in each room, facemasks, and appropriate distancing. With a 6000 square foot Manor and two acres of property, we are easily able for you to “social distance.” Prior to retirement, Jean O’Donnell-Smith, Manor Manager, traveled extensively staying in Airbnbs, national hotels chains and Bed & Breakfasts. As a business traveler, she was up and out early focused on the day’s agenda. Now, her focus for the Manor is the business of your vacation. Nestled between the Cayuga and Seneca Lake Wine Trails, the “Wine Down” experience is especially important. When you walk through the doors of Tillinghast Manor, the goal is to leave your “Covid” cares behind and “chill-lax”. Tillinghast Manor is not a Bed and Breakfast. It is a Bed and Brunch, a unique concept. Many BNBs serve breakfast during a regimented time to allow for quick turnover of rooms. Our philosophy is when you are on vacation, sleeping in is a much-needed pleasure. Prior to the pandemic, to accommodate late risers we served Brunch on your schedule with late check out. As a part of our reopening plan, we have discontinued this offering until the 2021 season. Each room is stocked with a wide variety breakfast items which you can enjoy in your room, dining area inside or outdoors. We have closed the Cayuga Room to allow each room to have its own separate dining area. Before you start your day or when your day is done, we invite you to sit out on the patio and enjoy our beautiful park like setting.
