🇺🇸 Celebrate the 4th of July in Cayuga County! 🇺🇸
There’s no better place to celebrate America’s birthday than right here in Cayuga County! From small-town traditions to lakeside fireworks, our communities know how to show their patriotic pride. Whether you’re looking for history, family fun, or just a spot to kick back and watch the sky light up, there’s something here for everyone.
Historic Reading of the Declaration of Independence
For a historic start to your holiday, head to Ledyard, NY, where the community comes together each year for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence at 11:00am. A rider on horseback will arrive to deliver the news from Philadelphia. This tradition reminds us of the values our nation was built upon and offers a chance to reflect on the true meaning of the 4th of July. Refreshments and music will follow the reading
After the reading festivities, don’t miss the opportunity to print your own copy of the Declaration of Independence on a historic press at the Press of Robert LoMascolo a hands-on keepsake and a special way to connect with history.
Bring the family, listen to the words that sparked a revolution, and enjoy being part of this local tradition.
