Cayuga County Canal Communities Team Up to Keep the Erie Canal Clean
April 4, 2024 – Auburn, NY: In honor of Earth Day each year, New York State’s parks and trails host a Canal Clean Sweep on the state’s major greenways along the Erie Canal and other major canalways. This year, Cayuga County’s three canal communities—Port Byron, Weedsport, and Montezuma—are once again demonstrating their strong partnership by teaming up to honor Earth Day by cleaning up the Erie Canal.
Sign-ups are still open to participate in these Canal Clean Sweep events:
- Port Byron Old Erie Canal Heritage Park Clean Up Day 2024
- Weedsport’s Erie Canal Clean Up Crew
- Montezuma Heritage Park Canal Clean Sweep
In partnership and collaboration with these incredible canal communities, the Cayuga County Office of Tourism will be participating in Weedsport’s Canal Clean Sweep event, helping to ensure that Cayuga County’s historical, outdoor assets stay clean and well-preserved.
