Cayuga County Office of Tourism Launches New Black-Owned Businesses Webpage

February 27, 2023 – Auburn, NY: This morning, the Cayuga County Office of Tourism officially launched its brand-new webpage, designed to highlight Black-owned businesses in Cayuga County. This new page provides residents and visitors alike with the opportunity better understand the wealth of offerings available to them in Cayuga County. This webpage serves as an invitation: to connect with the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to authentic experiences.

Cayuga County is home to a long legacy on historic residents: Harriet Tubman, William & Frances Seward, and more. And while Harriet Tubman is most well known for her bravery as a conductor on the Underground Railroad and as a spy in the Civil War, she was also a highly successful entrepreneur and businesswoman in her time. In the spirit of Tubman’s entrepreneurial legacy and in celebration of Black History Month, Tour Cayuga is proud to present its Discover Black-Owned Businesses webpage.

Not only does this page serve as an ever-growing database of Black-owned businesses in the county, but it is also a place for those businesses to grow and thrive. It will allow business owners to discover and connect with each other. And each month, the page will highlight one featured business—with a photo, blurb, quote, and website link.

As we seek to invest in our own community, the importance of highlighting Black-owned businesses cannot be understated—during Black History Month and far beyond.
