Cayuga County is a haven for ‘foodies.’ We are filled with fine restaurants, picturesque farms, vineyards, farmers markets and roadside stands bursting with seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and other locally grown and produced products. Follow our ‘From Field to Fork’ self‐drive itinerary and get a ‘taste’ of why the Finger Lakes Region is known for its farm fresh food!
Your first stop is King Ferry Winery, part of the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. Located at 658 Lake Road in King Ferry, the winery produces world‐class Treleaven Wines in the centuries‐old Burgundian tradition. Sample wines while enjoying the art gallery and gift shop.
Next take a short drive to Finger Lakes Dexter Creamery, 1853 Black Rock Road, King Ferry, to taste their artisanal farmstead kefir cheese as well as their homemade low sugar jams and jellies made from organically grown fruit. A visit to the creamery includes tasting, tours and shopping. Open year-round but call ahead to schedule a visit.
After an afternoon of driving through our beautiful countryside sampling cheese and wine, enjoy a relaxing dinner inspired by the changing seasons and fresh regional products at Pumpkin Hill Bistro or the Aurora Inn, both located in the historic lakeside village of Aurora on NYS Scenic Route 90. Try the ‘Days Harvest’ a selection of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and grains fresh from the garden at Pumpkin Hill Bistro or treat yourself to a spectacular lake view while sipping a glass of Finger Lakes wine from the Aurora Inn’s extensive local wine list.
Looking for a place to spend the night? The E.B. Morgan House, named by Travel & Leisure magazine as one of the world’s most romantic hotels is the perfect place to enjoy a another glass of Finger Lakes wine as you watch the sun set over Cayuga Lake.
