Cayuga County is a haven for ‘foodies.’ We are filled with fine restaurants, picturesque farms, vineyards, farmers markets and roadside stands bursting with seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and other locally grown and produced products. Follow our ‘From Field to Fork’ self‐drive itinerary and get a ‘taste’ of why the Finger Lakes Region is known for its farm fresh food!
Your first stop is Treleaven Wines, located at 658 Lake Road in King Ferry. The winery produces world‐class Treleaven Wines in the centuries‐old Burgundian tradition. Sample wines in their tasting room and gift shop or while listening to music at “The Hangtime,” Treleaven’s amazing open- air entertainment venue.
Next take a short drive to Bet the Farm Winery, 381 Main Street, Aurora, where you can enjoy not only their award-winning wines but also shop for the best cheeses, condiments, sauces, pastas, and confections from the Finger Lakes and New York State.
Any foodie will also want to make a couple of stops along the Finger Lakes Sweet Treat Trail, a family-friendly trail featuring locally grown or produced sweet treats such as jams, honey and baked goods made with local ingredients. Enjoy Karen’s famous cinnamon buns at Karen’s Country Confections, 157 Cayuga Street, Union Springs and fruit pies made with seasonal local fruit at The Produce Place, 293 Cayuga Street, Union Springs. You are sure to find something to satisfy your sweet tooth!
After an afternoon of driving through our beautiful countryside sampling cheese, wine, and sweet treats, enjoy a relaxing dinner inspired by the changing seasons and fresh regional products at the Aurora Inn, located in the historic lakeside village of Aurora on NYS Scenic Route 90. Treat yourself to a spectacular lake view while sipping a glass of Finger Lakes wine from the Aurora Inn’s extensive local wine list.
Looking for a place to spend the night? The Inns of Aurora offer four distinctive properties, each with its own character but all with a four diamond AAA rating. Check into anyone of these luxurious properties and enjoy another glass of Finger Lakes wine as you watch the sun set over Cayuga Lake.
