Vanek Elected to New York State Tourism Industry Association Board
Newly-merged travel & tourism association elects directors
October 27, Poughkeepsie, NY - Meg Vanek, Executive Director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, was elected to the board of directors of the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) at their annual meeting held on October 23, 2014 in Poughkeepsie, NY She will serve a one-year term ending in October 2015.
The historic merging of the New York State Tourism Promotion Agency council (NYSTPA) with the New York State Travel and Vacation Association (NYSTVA) in early 2014 resulted in the creation of NYSTIA, a statewide membership based organization for travel and toursim and related businesses. NYSTIA is a 501c6, New York State not-for-profit corporation engaged in the business of advocacy, leadership, marketing, and professional development. With 17 years of tourism experience, Vanek, formerly serving as the Vice Chair of the New York State Tourism Promotion Agency council says, “ The merger of the NYSTPA Council and NYSTVA has created the opportunity for NYSTIA to grow into a larger more engaging state-wide membership organization and I am happy to serve.”
