Fillmore Glen State Park
This lush gorge park is a favorite for families! Hike along easy trails past stunning waterfalls, cool off in the swimming pond, and enjoy lunch at the shaded picnic areas. There’s even a play area to keep little ones happy while you relax in the scenic surroundings.

Sterling Nature Center
With over 10 miles of trails along the Lake Ontario shoreline, this preserve is perfect for a peaceful family walk or a nature scavenger hunt. Watch for birds, frogs, and all kinds of woodland creatures. Be sure to check the center’s website for free guided hikes and educational events like Owl Prowls. Leashed dogs are welcome, too!

Fair Haven Beach State Park
One of the top lakefront beaches in the region, this park has 1,500 feet of beautiful sandy beach including 600 feet of guarded swimming area. There are hiking trails, picnic pavilions, and a large grassy area for kids to run and play. Boat rentals are available and include canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards.

Owasco Lake at Emerson Park
Owasco Lake located in Emerson Park offers swimming, walking trails, picnic area, Disc Golf and plenty of open grassy area for playing summer games, such as frisbee and volleyball. Owasco Paddles offers paddle board and canoe rentals. Beach is open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Swimming is allowed within the designated swimming areas permitting lifeguards are on duty.

Great Gully
Tucked just off Route 90, this short, shaded hike ends at a refreshing waterfall—perfect for a summer cool-down. Wear water shoes and be prepared to get your feet wet along the way!

Long Point State Park
This park offers a playground, picnic tables, hiking trails and a boat launch. The shore line is a great place to look for “Witches’ stones,” also known as hag stones or odin stones. These are naturally stones with a hole, found near bodies of water. They are believed to have protective and magical properties in folklore, particularly against negative entities like witches and spirits

Enjoy a few hours or a few days on Little Sodus Bay. Free delivery and pickup. We also offer transportation to Sterling Nature Center launch on Sterling Creek for a popular paddle back to your vehicle in the Fair Haven State Park.

Owasco Paddles
Owasco Paddles is located in Emerson Park on beautiful Owasco Lake. They provide rentals of Kayaks, Canoes, Stand-Up Paddleboards and related equipment for the whole family. They are very dog friendly – they even offer dog lifejackets and non-slip mats for your canine friends!
Where History Meets the Outdoors

Harriet Tubman Home
Introduce your children to one of America’s most famous Underground Railroad conductors Harriet Tubman. After emancipating herself and members of her family from slavery, Tubman moved them to Auburn. This area was a hub for progressive thought, abolition, and women’s suffrage, here Tubman continued to fight for human rights and dignity during her 54 years of freedom.

Port Byron Old Erie Canal Heritage Park
Enjoy an authentic glimpse into life on the Erie Canal in the mid-19th and early 20th centuries including the enlarged Erie Canal Lock 52 and the Erie House Complex, which dates back to 1895 and includes the Erie House Tavern and Hotel, a mule barn and blacksmith shop. Visit the newly constructed Visitor’s Center offers interactive displays and educational materials. Seasonal. Park is stroller-friendly and welcomes leashed dogs.

Ward W. O’Hara Agricultural & Country Living Museum
Step back in time to experience life in the 1800s. With antique tools, hands-on exhibits, and even a model train display, this museum is a hit with curious kids. Bonus: it’s just around the corner from Emerson Park—perfect for pairing indoor and outdoor fun.
