Owens Orchard
Submitted By: Emma Trip
Owen Orchards is a small family-owned apple orchard and farm market devoted to maintaining a down home, old-fashioned experience for our customers every fall. We got our start around 1929 when Charles Owen decided to plant a small plot of apple trees around the corner from our current location and nurture them for years to come. While Charles grew only a small selection of classic apples; McIntosh, Cortland, and Spies to name a few, the farm now boasts upwards of 35-40 varieties! The rest is history, as we’re now 5 generations into this apple growing thing, 6 if you count our littlest family member, and many families have grown up alongside ours.

If you know us, you know our apple cider and donuts. We press our own cider weekly from September-April, almost daily during busy season, allowing visitors the opportunity to watch the entire process through our viewing window. The cider then goes out for sale, back to the kitchen for donuts, or into the slushie machine on a hot day. A Fall trip to our farm just isn’t complete without a cider slush and a dozen of our cider donuts.
In a day and age where everything has become large and commercialized, we strive to provide the classic, “working-farm” apple orchard experience and farm market shopping. Our family invites you to take a wagon ride, stroll through the orchard to pick your favorites, then visit the store for unique local finds!

The Sweet Treat Trail has provided us with the opportunity to reach those in different areas, or who just may not know we’re here! We really love the grouping of all these lovely local businesses in one accessible list. It’s something we find both our locals and visitors enjoy checking out!
