Frontline Training Opportunities

In addition to promoting Cayuga County as a vacation destination for potential travelers, Tour Cayuga also sponsors frequent opportunities for frontline representatives from local businesses, organizations, and restaurants to attend educational sessions, allowing them to better serve the community and its visitors. While these opportunities vary in scope and form, they are an essential component of the tourism office’s work. Not only do they allow frontline workers—such as waiters, museum docents, or hotel staff who connect directly to the public—to better represent Cayuga County to visitors, but they also promote retention through professional development within the industry.

On May 15, 2024, Tour Cayuga will be offering registered attendees a chance to learn from tourism industry professionals in order to receive a Travel Unity Individual Certificate (TUIC). Travel Unity is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with travel-focused organizations to broaden their DEI efforts and to align them with current best practices. Designed for early- and mid-career tourism and hospitality professionals, the TUIC program equips participants with the knowledge necessary to appropriately address the needs of diverse visitors and colleagues. This is just one of many of the ways in which the Cayuga County Office of Tourism is working to ensure that Cayuga County is an inclusive and accessible location to all.
