On the Water
Lake Country
Cayuga County is home to eight lakes and the Erie Canal. We have more fresh water coastline than any other county in New York State! In this part of New York State, we love to get out and enjoy the water, and there is nothing like a quiet paddle to bring life into perspective. Canoe, kayak, or paddleboard for an hour or a few hours on our lakes and rivers and you’ll find there is nothing quite like life on the water!
Splashing around Cayuga Lake, Owasco Lake and the Great Lake Ontario is a favorite summertime activity, with easily accessible public beaches on each lake so don’t forget your swimming suit!
If fishing is your passion the lakes and tributaries of the Finger Lakes are home to some of the finest freshwater fishing in the Northeast. If it can be caught in freshwater, the Finger Lakes nearly have it all!
And, at the end of the day, there is nothing better than watching a lakeside sunset while enjoying a farm fresh meal and Finger Lakes wine. You’ll be sure to lean back and tell yourself, “life is good!’
